George N. Skegas
As the lead Investment Principal, George is responsible for all phases of transaction origination and ongoing investment management. George is a founding managing principal of Catalyst and a former principal of Heller Investments. He has led investment and management activities at Catalyst since April 1998.
During his career, George has completed over thirty transactions involving more than $2 billion of managed capital across a wide spectrum of equity and debt securities. These transactions encompass financing leveraged buyouts, corporate acquisitions, recapitalizations of middle market businesses, growth transactions and acquisitions of businesses in need of restructuring.
George joined Heller Investments in 1993, where he led investment origination and management activities as a principal. Prior to joining Heller Investments, George was Senior Vice President and Origination Manager for Heller Financial, Inc.’s Structured Finance Group where he led the company in broadening its range of financing to include subordinated debt, preferred stock and common stock.
George began his business career at Bankers Trust Company in its Structured Finance Group where he had major responsibility for a number of large leveraged buyouts. Previously, he served in the United States Army, where he attained the rank of Captain. In his last command assignment, he was a Platoon Leader and Liaison Officer at a NATO nuclear missile site outside Istanbul, Turkey. George holds a B.A. in Economics from Johns Hopkins University and a M.B.A. from the Anderson School of Management at the University of California, Los Angeles.
